I grew up on the Kitsap Peninsula, not far from Seattle, Washington. I fell in love with Swedish as a high school exchange student in the south of Sweden, and have been obsessed with the language and culture ever since.
After college, I traveled the world for ten years, working as a flight attendant for United Airlines. In 2004, I received my MS in Education and began working as an academic adviser and teacher at Olympic College.
In 2011, twenty years after I had first lived in Sweden, I returned to graduate school to earn my MA in Scandinavian Language and Literature from the University of Washington.
I currently work at the University of Washington as a Swedish Lecturer for the Scandinavian Department. I also teach Swedish for the Scandinavian Language Institute and offer private lessons.
In my free time, I love to travel, plan new adventures, read, hike, practice yoga, paddle-board, cross-country ski, and listen to podcasts.
